Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I received an income tax notice. What should I do first?
Read the section and the due date on the notice and do not ignore it. Log in to the income tax portal, check the notice under pending actions and send us a copy. We will tell you what it relates to and prepare the reply.
What is the difference between a 143(1) intimation and a 143(2) notice?
A 143(1) intimation is a processing result and may show a mismatch, refund adjustment or demand. A 143(2) notice means your return is selected for scrutiny and needs a detailed reply with documents.
I got a notice under Section 148 or 148A. Is it serious?
Yes. These relate to income the department believes has escaped assessment. Time to respond is limited, so send the notice to us immediately for the reply and objections.
How do I file an appeal against an income tax order?
An appeal against an assessment or penalty order is generally filed before the Commissioner (Appeals) within 30 days of the order or demand notice. An appeal against that order goes to the ITAT, generally within 60 days. We prepare and file these.
Can a tax demand be corrected or stayed?
Where there is an error on record, a rectification under Section 154 can be filed. In suitable cases a stay of demand can also be requested. We review the demand and suggest the right route.
Do you handle TDS notices?
Yes. We handle TDS default, short deduction and late filing notices and help with correction statements.
What does it cost?
Fees depend on the notice, the assessment year and the work involved. Share your notice on WhatsApp and we will give a clear quote.
